Grocery e-commerce · consumer

Ndougalma

An idea for a grocery shopping app. Live 2 months ahead of the original plan.

A Senegalese entrepreneur came to us with an idea: let Senegalese people do their grocery shopping online, prioritizing local merchants. No existing platform, no marketing strategy, no formalized business model. Everything to build.

Idea · business model · platform · digital marketing · maintenance

The brief

The brief was a single sentence: "I want to launch an app that would allow Senegalese to do their grocery shopping online." The client knew their market but had neither product experience nor technical expertise to execute. They were looking for a partner to take charge of the entire project — from idea to first euro earned.

The problem

An idea isn't a product. We needed to validate the business model (average basket, margins, delivery logistics), define the precise target, choose a first version that generates revenue without costing a fortune to maintain, and build marketing traction before public launch.

Our approach

We laid out a 4-phase roadmap over 5 months — which we ultimately compressed to 3 months thanks to client availability and clear scoping from day one. Modern technologies (Next.js + local payment Wave + Stripe for diaspora), a light server side to iterate fast, and a digital marketing track running in parallel with technical build so launch wasn't an empty page.

Delivery phases

  1. 01

    Idea & business model

Three 2-hour workshops on average basket, initial targeting, delivery logistics, and product margin. Output: a testable BM and a 6-month roadmap.

  2. 02

    Technical first version

Responsive Next.js web app with catalog, cart, checkout, user accounts, Wave + Orange Money + card payment. Deliberately light to iterate fast.

  3. 03

    Digital marketing

Visual identity, social media launch, paid teasing campaign before launch, partnerships with Dakar grocery micro-influencers.

  4. 04

    Launch & maintenance

Put live on OVH France, client training on the admin space, quarterly maintenance and evolution contract, performance monitoring.
